The upgraded Seasonal Agriculture Survey (USAS) data collection was conducted following the three ordinary agricultural seasons.
The USAS field activities were carried out during the regular seasons’ calendar that covers the approximate monthly periods as follows:
- Season A started in September 2019 and ended with February 2020
- Season B started in March 2020 and ended with 2020.
- Season C that starts in July and ends in September of the same year
During 2020-year, agricultural land at 1.4 million hectares (59 percent of total country land), from which 1.14 million of hectares and 1.19 million hectares was arable land in season A and B respectively.
In 2019/2020 agricultural year, the total physical crop area under cultivation was estimated at 1.1million hectares (81 percent of total agricultural land) and increased by 2 percent when compared to 2018/2019 agricultural year.
Out of physical cultivated area, 1 million hectares was used for seasonal crops while 0.5 million hectares of land was covered by permanent crops.
